Invest In Kids Scholarship Tax Program

At Shaarei Chinuch Day School we're committed to fostering a nurturing learning environment for every child. The Invest In Kids Scholarship Tax Program, offered by the State of Illinois, extends this commitment by ensuring more families can afford high-quality private education for their children in kindergarten and elementary school.
This program not only aids low-income and working-class families but also provides a significant tax credit to those contributing to our school's scholarship fund. By participating, our community members directly invest in shaping our children's futures.
To learn more about the program, visit the State of Illinois website.

How It Works

Individuals and businesses can contribute to our school's scholarship fund through certified Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs), receiving a 75% tax credit in return. The SGOs then distribute scholarships to eligible families.
For instance, if you donate $100, you will receive a $75 tax credit, while your entire $100 donation contributes to a child's Jewish Montessori education!

How to Donate

How to Donate
  1. Register for a MyTax.Illinois.Gov account and check your state tax liability.
  2. Make a donation to SCDS via one of our two SGOs, Empower Illinois or Big Shoulders Fund. The more our fund receives in donations, the greater the scholarship opportunities for low-income families!
For a step-by-step guide on how to donate, provided by Agudath Israel of Illinois, click here.

Receiving Scholarships

To verify your eligibility for a scholarship, please visit the Empower Illinois and Big Shoulders Fund websites. Scholarships are awarded in the order that applications are received, with amounts determined by contributions to our fund.
